 Historical background of Hamedan

Most cities of the Province especially Hamedan, Nahavand and Toyserkan are very ancient. Herodot, Greek historian Called Hamedan as Ekbatan and said that Diaeco (founder of Median dynasty) has built it. Achamenidae called Hamedan Hegmataneh (place to assemble) and chose it as their capital. As you read in history of Iran, Hamedan was the first capital of the first government in Iran. Archeological excavations in Gyan Hill (Nahavand), site of Habakuk the Prophet and his immigration to Tuyserkan (about 700 BC), Babakamal historical hill in Tuyserkan, Nooshijan historical hill near Malayer show the antiquity of these three cities. Various cultural and historical monuments in Hamedan cause that in the date of April 21th , 1991 in the Nation Supreme Council of Architecture & Urbanism meeting,This city has recognition as one of the six historical and cultural cities of the country.

 

 

The mausoleum of Emamzadeh Mohsen is located on a hill on the northern foothill of Mount Alvand, at the end of green and pleasant gardens of Barfin (Vafrajin) so they call it Emamzadeh Kuh. It profits by sunshine during the day because it extends from east to west.

It is located in a distance of 15 kilometers from Hamedan and Maryanaj, Sulan, Tooin. Mooin and Vafrajin villages are on its road. There is no epitaph on the iamb, but in the margin of the wooden box his identity has been writtcn as "Mohsen lbn-e Ali Al-Naghi Ibn-e Al-Hossein Ibn-e Zeyd Ibn-e AI-Hassan AI­-Mojtaba (P.B.U.H.)" and also time of making the box; 935 A.H. It was decorated by the use of Salavat (the sentence by which Muslims salute their prophet Mohammad).
 
 
 

In this mausoleum, one of Imam Ali followers Abu Dajanneh Ansari, was buried, According to its technical certification, it was built during Ilkhanian period. 8th century. It has been renovated and rebuilt several limes and is similar to "Haftad-o-do Tan" monument in Saroogb, Arak.

 
 
 
 

It has been registered as an Iranian Historical monument No. 824 dated 25. 12. 1969.
Emamzadeh Kuh geographical position, its green valleys and mild climate in addition to its religion attractions make it attractive from tourism point of view.
