Since a long time ago, Hamedan Province was one of the main centers for growing medicinal plants, There were famous herbal medicine and herbalists. Many people distilled fragrant flowers and grew herbals. In 1996, based on available potentials, like growing various species of medicinal plants, popular desire in using them, historical background and activity of physicians like Avecinna in the past and Dr. Ahmad Ali Khosravi Hamedani and the others, at present lime, "Buali Sina Medicinal plants Garden" was established in south of Hamedan. Natural regions for growll1g medicinal plants and their distrihution were determine by Research Center of Agricultural Jihad Organization. So far, 250 species arc known, for example "tragacanth" which is produced by "goar's thorn", it is also one of exporting goods of the province.

"Medicinal Plants Garden" has been built in order to facilitate researching, educating, exhibiting and improving the herbal medicines and scientific Excursions. It is impol1ant to note that Mount Alvand, Bughati, Garin, Almagholagh, Khan Gormaz, Lashkardar, Kooh Garmeh and Kooh Sardch are the main centers of medicinal plants to grow.

Some projects which were executed, are as follow:

a) Collecting and recognizing Medicinal Plants of Hamedan Province.
b) Cultivaring shallot and making it as a domestic plant.

c) Producing 36 species of herbal medicines and introducing to ministry of health, treatment and medical education for certifications registration like:

   1. Antiheadachc medicine,

   2. kidney strengthening medicine,

   3.Antisinusitis medicine,

   4.Antibuming medicine,

   5. Antiflatulence medicinc,

   6.Antihair growing.
