Mount Alvand Range is
one of the natural and
attractive features of
Hamedan Province, which
is located in the
southern part of Hamedan
and north of Tuyserkan.
Alvand, the highest peak
with an altitude of 3574
meters above sea level
is the natural border
between these two
cities. This mount runs
from northwest to
southeast and divides
the province into two
northern and southern
parts. This mountain
with deep and green
valleys, springs,
prairies, peaks,
beautiful green settings
etc. attract thousands
of people. |

Penplains of Alvand Mountain Range |

In addition to High
Peaks there are small
penplains covered with
meadow in which several
spring flows. Because of
their smooth surface
climbers rest and camp
on them. The main plains
are: Meydan Mishan,
Takht Nader, Chaman Shah
Nazer and Takht-e Rostam

Northern and southern Valley of Mount

There are some valleys
with springs and rivers
like Barfin valley,
Ganjnameh valley, Abas
Abad valley, Dozakh
Darreh, Darreh Goosale,
Kivarestan, Darreh
Siman, Darreh Moradbeik,
Darreh Divin, Darreh
Ghez, Darreh Heydareh,
and etc. Also there are
some pleasant valleys on
the northern slope on
Alvand such as: Serkan
valley, artiman valleys,
Faran valley, Gazandar
valley, shahrestaneh
valley and so on.

1) Hoz-e Nabi: It is the
most famous spring in
Mount Alvand, its
headwater is located
Under a large rock in
Alvand peak . It flows
toward Takht Nader. Its
water is cold and
refreshing .
2) Takht Nader Spring (
Cheshmeh): It is located
at the beginning of
Takht nadir region with
a rushing water.
3) Kalaghlan spring (Cheshmeh):
A permanent steam that
is flowing in kalaghlan
meadowy plains.
4) Ghazi Spring (Cheshmeh
Ghazi): it flows in
darreh Moradbeik and
supplies drinking water
of Moradbeik village.
5) Cheshmeh malek: It is
the headwater of river
flowing in Divin valley.
6) Haft Cheshmeh: It
flows in southern slope
of Chahar Gholeh beside
the road that leads to
Tuyserkan.
7) Cheshmeh Khosrow: It
flows along the Yakhchal-e
Kolahghazi rout.
8) Behesht Ab: In the
south part of Alvand
Peak and Darreh
Kivarestan, there is a
spring which comes out
of a rock split. Its
water decreases during
the droughty years and
dries up.
9) Cheshmeh Af’I: Its is
located on the slopes of
Doozakh Darreh.
10) Cheshmeh Abmorvarid:
It is a gushing spring
with refreshing water
and flows with Cheshmeh
Af’I along Vafrejin
river. Some species of
willow family are around
Cheshmeh Morvarid that
are called ‘’Morvar’’.
Some believe the spring
is so called because of
existence these plants. |

Some Medicinal Plant, Vegtables, and
Flowers |

The main plant species
which can be found in
Mount Alvand is ‘’goat’s
– thorn’’ it is a
shrubby aculeate plant,
and a resin, called gum
tragacanth is extracted
from it. And it is used
in resin, weaving
industries.
In mild seasons,
specially in spring,
after melting the snows,
a beautiful white flower
grew which is called
winter flower and after
a while colorful
buttercups can be seen.
Tulips, lilies and
plants like mint,
nettle, rhubarb,
shallot, pricky
artichoke, liquorice,
jelly fish are among the
species of Alvand
plants. |

Some of them are
medicinal and others are
eatable. For example: collyrium can be used
for medicinal purposes. |

Wolf, fox, rabbit,
jackal, sable, and some
birds like black eagle,
and eagle are among the
animals which live in
this mount. Ewe, ibex,
goat, partridge, pigeon,
and plain eagle are
among the rare animals. |
