Historical background of
Hamedan |

The noble gnostic,
Babataher Hamedani was
one of the famous poets
of the middle of the
fifth century A.H. in
Iran. He was also
Toghrol Beyk-e-Saljuk's
coeval. "13aba" was a
title, which was given
to the noble followers,
and "Oryan" was granted
him because of his
separation from mundane
attachments. |

Babataher's Do-Bey ties
double distiches) or
songs are composed in
Hazaj-e-mosadase
mahzoof (name of a meter
in Persian poetry) in
lori dialect. Some
sonnets, two versicles
in Lori dialect, Arabic
Quotes. and "saranjam"
are among his works.
His poems are full of
pleasant meanings and
tender feelings and his
book, "Saranjam"
includes two parts: The
ideas of Sufis and
gnostics, and "Al-Fotoohat
Rabbani Fi Esharat-e Al-Hamcdani."

information about
Babataher's family,
education. and life. |

Nevertheless, he visited
Togbrol Saljuki in 447
A.H. and was respected
by him. In one of his
well-known Dobey ties he
composed his birth date
in Abjad Alphabet, and
after calculating by
Mirza Mehdi Khan Kukab
in Ghajar period, his
birth dated back 10
326A.H .. He passed away
in 85 years of age and
his life was full of
love and passion. His
mausoleum is located
north of Hamedan, in the
center of a large square
of the same name. The
mausoleum was rebuilt
several times. It was an
octagonal brick tower in
6th century. Another
brick building was built
in its place in Reza
Khan Pahlavi period.
During the rebuilding a
turquoise tablet tile
was found which dated
back to 7th century,
containing a Kufi
inscription and some
Quranic verses, it is
kept in Iran Bastan
Museum. |

In 1344 A.H., Eng. Mohsen
Frughi under the
sponsorship of Hamedan
Municipality and
Cultural Heritage
Organization, built the
new mausoleum Around the
building. We can see a
vast green and beautiful
sight.
Some famous learned men
arc resting around
Babataher mausoleum,
such as Mohammad Ibn-e
Abd-ol Aziz; a man of
letter in 3rd century,
Abolfalh As'ad; one of
the jurisprudence of 6th
century, Haj Mira Ali
Naghi Kosar; one of the
scientists of 13th
century and Marton
Hamedani; one of the
14th century poets (who
was born in 1268 in
Hamedan an passed away
in 1330, "Ensan Kamel"
and " Divan She'r" are
some of his works. |

This monument has been
registered as an Iranian
National and Historical
monument No. 1780 dated
18 May 1998.
